Club Re-Opening Plans

We are pleased to announce that the Club will re-open for tennis on 29 March 2021, subject to Government confirmation nearer the time. Singles and doubles between mixed households will be permitted, as long as social distancing and the Rule of 6 are maintained. The clubhouse will remain closed for the time being, however, except for access to the floodlights and the disabled lavatory.

Although we are all familiar with the Covid protocols by now, may we please remind you of the following:

  1. Arrive ready to play
  2. Do not share equipment – tennis balls excepted
  3. Observe social distancing both in the car park and around the courts
  4. Sanitise hands before and after play
  5. Do not congregate around the net
  6. Depart immediately after play

Tennis coaching will also resume on 29 March. A separate briefing note will be circulated by Frances Candy.

Club tennis sessions (Thursday and Sunday mornings and Tuesday evenings in summer) and the Experienced Players’ session (Thursday evenings) will also begin again from 29 March. The maximum size of the groups has yet to be confirmed.

England Squash are working towards the opening of squash courts on 12 April and will issue their guidance in due course. For advice go to

This is by way of early warning, but the hope is that there will be no change to this programme over the next few weeks.

Looking further ahead, from 12 April we are hoping to open the gym for individual exercise and the bar for drinking outside on a table service basis.
