Future Plans

A few years ago, the club purchased the next-door field with a view to developing and improving facilities for members and promoting tennis in the wider community. A planning application for indoor tennis courts was submitted to Rother District Council and, during 2018, the Rother DC Planning Committee voted to green-light the project but delegated to the planning officers the requirement to satisfy objections from Natural England regarding ecological impact and from East Sussex CC regarding flood risk and drainage. This is proving very time-consuming and complex and at present there is no guarantee we can resolve these technical issues. If the club does obtain planning consent, it will be necessary to consult members once again and satisfy ourselves that the project will improve the club’s long-term sustainability.
