Social events held at the Club each year include two drinks parties (normally at the end of May and in early December) and the annual tournament barbecue and disco (first Saturday in August). Additional events include buffet suppers tacked on to sports evenings, including the squash finals evening, the annual table-tennis tournament and the end-of-season tennis tournament.
Events are arranged from time to time to raise additional funds to improve the Club facilities. These include dances (with live bands), bridge evenings, golf days, open gardens and bicycle rides. Over the past three years, special events have been organised for Club members in London, including two private visits to Buckingham Palace (followed by dinner) and in 2008 a visit to the Tower of London for the Ceremony of the Keys (including dinner in the Officers' Mess).
Now that the Clubhouse has been extended and refurbished, it is intended to increase the number of social events at the Club. These will take advantage of the modern kitchen facilities and larger dining area now available. For the full annual programme of both social and sporting events, see Programme of Events.
The new Club rooms are available for hire by members wishing to hold private functions.

The bar is usually open between 6pm and 8pm Monday to Thursday, as well as on Sundays (12.00-2.30pm) and Saturday evenings (6pm onwards). Bar snacks and light meals are available on a regular basis and Sunday lunches are held once a month (see lists on notice board).
If you find the bar closed, you can call Denys Martin (who lives almost opposite the club) on 01797 223210 and, if available, he will open up the bar for you. There are also two fully stocked "Honesty Fridges" in the Games Room.
