In November, on a bitterly cold evening, five Royal Opera House Young Artists performed a selection of arias and ensembles to a very appreciative audience. The event was a sell-out and raised about £8,000 for the Club. Another concert is planned for November this year.

Enthusiasm for Tuesday table-tennis evenings through the winter led to a good turnout at the annual tournament in early March and a high standard, particularly in the men’s singles, which saw coach Kevin Haffenden triumph over last year’s winner David Goddard in a close final.
On a warm but windy Saturday in early June, some intrepid bikers set out across the marsh to raise money for the club. Everyone was drier and cheerier than last year, as witness John Farmer arriving at the Royal Oak for lunch, bottom right.
