Membership

Rother Meads Tennis and Games Club is a multi-sports club and new members are always welcome. If you have any questions about membership, please contact a member of the Executive Committee or email info@ryetennisandsquashclub.org.uk.

Application for Membership

The Membership Application Form requires the signature of a Proposer and a Seconder, so any applicant who does not already know two members of the Club is encouraged to make contact with a member of the Executive Committee to obtain one signature and to get an introduction to a second supporter of their application. Following completion of the form, the application must be approved by the Executive Committee and new members will receive their notification of election to membership shortly thereafter.

In the event that a long delay is anticipated between submission of the application form and the date of the next Executive Committee meeting, prospective new members can (by arrangement with a committee member) start using the Club's sports facilities immediately, although they will not be able to buy drinks at the bar until their election is confirmed.

While it is the policy of the Club to encourage junior players to join, in the case of unaccompanied minors the Club reserves the right to arrange a preliminary interview, at which some of the Club rules and traditions (together with the responsibilities of Club membership) are explained in a relaxed and friendly way.

Dormant Membership

Members going abroad for a full year may retain their membership of the Club by paying the dormant subscription of £29 per annum per head. This will enable them to rejoin automatically when they return, without the inconvenience of having to go on to the new members waiting-list.

Payment of Subscriptions

The Club's financial year begins on 1st April and the normal method of payment is by cheque, with a cut-off date of 31st May each year. Members wishing to pay by direct debit or standing order (either annually or in instalments) may do so by arrangement with the Hon Treasurer.

Guest Fees

Guests and other non-members are welcome to play at the Club but, in order to guarantee a real "club" atmosphere, local residents may not play tennis or squash as guests more than four times a year without applying to join the Club.

Current fees payable by guests and other visitors are as follows:

Squash: £2 per session (40 minutes)

Tennis or Padel Tennis: £10 per person per session up to 2 hours.

For guests playing with members, special rates for tennis apply as follows:

Tennis or Padel Tennis: £8 per person per session up to 2 hours.

If accompanied guests are under 18, fees due are half of the above rates.

All guest fees should be paid (and names entered in the register in the Clubhouse) before players go on court.
